The Miracle Basket


ASIGE Basketry project plays an important role in the development of rural Ghana especially women and girls. With just straw from elephant grass ASIGE transforms them into innovative and modern stylish products that are capable of replacing everything that rubbers are being used for in the home and outdoor events.
ASIGE baskets add fashion, style, elegance and cultural dimension of different parts of the world to come out with unique shapes baskets that are for fruits trays, laundry bags, flower vase, hand bags in various shapes, beach baskets and bags, market baskets in various dimensions, Shopping Malls baskets, home and event decorations, home storage, launch box, laptop bags and several uses. The miracle baskets of ASIGE currently employ 300 women in Bolgatanga, Ghana which they earn income to support their families. The baskets are becoming global products as they are exported to the UK, USA, Netherlands, Spain, Australia, Japan and several countries. These baskets deliver sustainable skills training to rural women including persons with disabilities as well as linking rural women to commercial banking. Countless number of the women was taken from the street hawking and is now employed through these miracle baskets. To deliver in providing access to quality education for brilliant but needy girls, the income from the baskets has been used to train girls vocational skills, sent teenage mothers back to school, set a center that make reusable sanitary pads  for girls in the upper East Region of Ghana.  Every year 5000 adolescent boys and girls receive comprehensive sexual reproductive health education, mentorship, leadership training, and entrepreneurship training all from this miracle baskets. The wonders of this baskets continues to unravel the potential of persons with disabilities by providing access to opportunities, mobility and adaptation equipment and integration of persons with disabilities through community sensitization. The women who are working in this project are out of extreme poverty and Simply put, the miracle bags is one of the surest way of combating rubber waste pollution of the environment.
To conclude the miracle baskets is the future of environmental friendly products, employment of rural women, and provision of economic and financial independence for women in rural Ghana and giving access to quality education for girls in Ghana and beyond. A purchase of the miracle baskets is an investment that will contribute to the achievement of the 6 of the SDGs that is 1,2,3,4,5 and 12
